What if Skynet becomes real?
In Terminator movies, we saw that Skynet, an artificially intelligent network, somehow gets out of control, destroys human civilisation by firing nuclear missiles and strive to terminate each human being. Today, it seems that we have the conditions that allow such a fiction to be a fact. For instance, today, we have an enormous virtual world that exists on remote data warehouses and servers which are scattered around the earth and connected with each other through overlong fibre-optic cables that stretch between continents. Moreover, efforts directed toward improvement of productivity led humankind to design intelligent production robots for factories. In fact, in this day and age, humankind can design and manufacture intelligent machines that can talk to us, such as Siri. If things continue to happen like this, in the near future, machines may be able to talk to each other as well. Over and above, they may evolve in a way that they can learn new knowledge, skills and abilities by themselves through internet. Thereafter, they may even be able to write their codes and design and produce themselves. In this way, they may not need human beings any more and may perceive humankind as a threat to their existence. Thus, artificially intelligent machines may see humankind as hostile beings which should be terminated. Although all of these seem fictious today, who can guarantee that artificially intelligent machines will not go crazy in the future? Thank you for sparing your valuable time and reading my post. I wish you have a great time wherever you are.
